Letter: Tis the season...

I AM now writing thank-you letters to those kind and generous people who have sent Christmas presents.

On Christmas Eve, on my way to a carol service and feeling happy, I passed a local petrol station to see that Shell had that day increased the cost of diesel fuel by 1p – making it 10p above petrol.

Many thoughts have passed through my mind like, Scrooge, Bah Humbug etc, but I am trying my best to be grateful that I have been given the opportunity to contribute to Shell’s staff Christmas Party and the chief executive’s bonus and pension. I am, sadly, still finding it difficult to put my feelings into words.
