Letter: Tax headaches

ALEX Salmond's efforts in trying to unite the objectives of Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland to form a solid argument to take to Westminster (your report, 1 June) could well backfire, as the requested reductions in corporation tax vary considerably and for different reasons.

Differences in tax and licensing within the UK create their own headaches in terms of enforcement and avoidance issues, which could plunge us into a farce of cross-border wheeling and dealing and complete failure to achieve devolved objectives.
