Letter: Support research into stem cells

AT LONG last someone in Scotland is recognising the enormous economic benefit of stem cell treatment (Business, 5 December).

Sir Paul Nurse (Nobel prize winner) recognised recently the working cooperation of universities and the National Health Service in Scotland. But I get the impression that worldwide no one knows Scotland's potential.

I have Motor Neuron Disease and I am desperate for companies to invest financial help as, at 67, I am costing the NHS for the first time in my life. The population in Scotland must recognise, help and support Professor Ian Wilmut and Professor Siddharthan Chandran in their efforts, as neurological complaints are becoming an epidemic with an ageing population.

JK Rowling has given 10 million but we need more investment. Please Scotland hurry up, I do not want to die.
