Letter: Socialist pygmies

I WOULD agree with Dennis Grattan (Letters, 27 December) that Tommy Sheridan is "the finest socialist leader Scotland has seen for years" but it isn't saying a lot. When Keir Hardie founded the Independent Labour Party he little knew the self-perpetuating gang of Scottish political pygmies he was spawning.

Every one of them since Ramsay Macdonald has made it his or her priority to demean and denigrate the country of their birth in true Harry Lauder fashion.

The current exponent of this dubious art is George Galloway.

Not content to bow and scrape to a despotic tyrant or lap milk among fellow morons, he now threatens to make a democratic mockery of his native land's parliamentary election.
