Letter: Scottish debt

It looks increasingly likely that Westminster will introduce new powers for our Scottish Parliament as a result of the recommendations contained in the Calman report.

This is good news for Scotland, giving some flexibility in control over taxation but by allowing our parliament powers to borrow money on the international money markets is a slippery slope to go down.

The last thing Scottish people want or need is more Scottish debt on top of the current national debt, and the pain that goes with cutbacks on services.
