Letter: Scottish appeal

AS THE United States - in cahoots with the UK - unceasingly tries to organise the affairs of almost every country in the world, in particular where economic gains are to be derived, it might be a good idea to get Scotland on to this bandwagon.

It could be seen as just another small nation with bountiful oil resources in its waters, whisky abundant (or should that be galore?), secret little coastal nooks where atomic submarines can hide away, of solid industrial, engineering, commercial, financial experience in its population and hence a skilled workforce, etc - yes and recognised computing skills.

What a fine little nation for the two predators to eye up!

Ach, maybe that's the problem for Scotland seeking to control its own affairs - it has too many assets. Why didn't I think of that before?
