Letter: School attacks

I WAS appalled to read your article that stated that one teacher is attacked every 10 minutes in Scottish schools (8 June).

Such behaviour was not tolerated when corporal punishment was allowed in schools.

I'm not saying bring back the birch, but we do need to be honest about the fact that some kind of deterrent helped minimise this kind of behaviour.
