Letter: Quality of bankers

Good for Bill Jamieson (Business, 21 June) in analysing the causes of the world's latest financial crisis and reminding us that there were some who forewarned against it.

But how many actual bankers, who had qualifications in and experience of banking, were in charge of the financial institutions which got it all so wrong? Were the bosses not mostly retailers and salesmen?

Shouldn't real bankers be standing up for themselves against the odium being cast in their general direction?
