Letter: Pay rise for mates

Alex Salmond, within days of stating that he was going to rule wisely and fairly and despite the impending public sector cuts, announced an increase in the number in his Cabinet by an astonishing 50 per cent.

This increase has nothing to do with improving the quality and efficiency of our government, which it patently won't do, but has everything to do with finding a way of giving some of his mates an increase in salary for this session of parliament to about 450,000.

It appears that ruling wisely and fairly in actuality means, yet again, one set of rules for our MSPs and another for all other public sector workers.
