Letter: Make hae anthem

REGARDING the continuing debate on Scotland’s national anthem, at Burns Suppers the late Reverend Alan Cameron would have those present sing Scots Wha Hae followed by “Scotland’s International Anthem” Auld Lang Syne.

Scots Wha Hae was the choice of the Scottish students Song Book of 1897 as the National Anthem. The tune was used at Bannockburn in 1314. French records show it as the tune to which Joan of Arc entered Orleans with Scottish help in 1429. Let’s stick with it.
