Letter: Labour's view of cuts is hypocrisy

THE comments made by David Miliband in respect to the decision of the Scottish Government not to implement the cuts in this financial year, is sheer hypocrisy ("SNP's 'unholy alliance' with Tories attacked, 13 June).

During the general election, the Labour government, in the full knowledge of the state of the economy, steadfastly refused to say what steps it would take to correct the situation – simply saying cuts would be necessary "but not now – before the economy recovers".

Now that election is over, and the SNP government is not implementing the pending draconian cuts that are coming in the Budget, this politician attempts to turn a virtue, namely that the Scottish economy will be spared for a year, into an attack on the Scottish Government. Duplicity or what?
