Letter: Labour pains

Joyce McMillan's ambiguous "nowhere left to turn" aptly sums up current mainstream party politics, (Perspective 24 June).

However, the SNP isn't the only party needing to "focus on crucial issues if voters aren't to be left bereft". Apparently, New Labour in Scotland has suffered for well over a decade from political and historical amnesia.

Moreover, what counts as crucial issues depends on Scottish Labour remembering it's roots in the "pragmatic socialism" inspired by Keir Hardie's Independent Labour Party.
