Letter: If the shoe fits…

The exultation from Haringey Council's former director of children's services, Sharon Shoesmith, after her recent, potentially lucrative though possibly temporary, court victory (your report, 28 May) suggests this is a woman unable to understand the basic concepts of humanity, accountability and responsibility.

In reality - whatever the outcome of the authorities' appeal seeking to uphold her sacking for serious departmental service failures in the tragic case of little Peter Connelly - fuelled by its own "Giggs effect"- the ongoing furore she has kicked up is only liable to increase the public opprobrium which so concerns Ms Shoesmith.
