Letter: GP’s pensions

DON’T GPs, as they “threaten industrial action on pensions”, expect to be treated differently by government (your report, 31 December)?

Apparently a majority already enjoy a privileged position in the NHS as self-employed independent contractors.

Are there others self-employed in the economy receiving a guaranteed, copper-bottomed public sector pension?

Perhaps this will be raised by government (Scottish ministers?) in negotiation with the British Medical Association.

A condition of GPs enjoying public sector pensions should be a move to being salaried employees.
