Letter: Food for thought

So, the issue of what Joan McAlpine MSP had for lunch is deemed momentous enough to merit four letters receiving pride of place in Scotland’s national newspaper (19 May).

Do Messrs Allan, MacDougall, Fiddimore and Reilly think government ministers and their aides in other countries do their work on pies and chips or the local equivalents?

Do those gentlemen’s high principles prevent them from ever eating anything more expensive than what their poorest fellow citizens could afford?

Does it occur to them that what Alex Salmond and Joan McAlpine were talking about during that lunch was probably more important than what was on their plates?
