Letter: Fallago fiasco

The fiasco at Fallago has added new voices of gravitas in opposition to wind farms (Letters, 11 November). These confirm many of the misgivings of more frequent correspondents over the past few years.

The amount of electricity produced by turbines is tragically risible and the only financial returns are huge amounts of money going to landowners and developers, from grants, subsidies and rent through a combination of taxpayers and customers money.

If this were not shameful enough, we have facile statements in support of windfarms from politicians who are fully aware of the tiny amount of electricity actually produced, yet persist in perpetuating a myth in a manner that is now approaching mendacity.
