Letter: Election dilemma

PETER Jones (Perspective, 13 March) makes interesting points regarding the impact of a 2015 UK general election in the event of a Yes vote for independence.

However, there is a further point to be considered. The SNP’s desire to have complex negotiation wrapped up in time to hold an election in an independent Scotland by 2016 is wishful thinking, so there will need to be Holyrood elections in 2016. I

f the SNP persists in rejecting Westminster legislation to legalise its referendum, what happens if it loses the 2016 election and a majority of MSPs opposed to independence are elected? These MSPs would then have a mandate to terminate negotiations.
