Letter: Dismal debate

How appalling it is that the First Minister is not made to answer First Minister's Questions, which he adroitly avoids, when he is asked (for example) about the punitive tax SNP tax plans he is desperate to hide from the Scottish electorate.

This shows how dismal the level of parliamentary debate is in Edinburgh.

Clearly, the bill before parliament at present needs to give the Presiding Officer teeth. As things stand, some holders of this post have been bullied by the First Minister.

This is a very worrying position for any supposed democracy. It needs to be addressed urgently.
