Letter: Day rates

I refer to the article (9 May), concerning the Penrose Inquiry into the circumstances in which some patients treated with blood and blood products acquired hepatitis C and/or HIV.

I am senior counsel to the inquiry. In the article, you imply that I am paid £3,500 a day, which is incorrect.

It represents a significant over-statement of the remuneration which I receive from the inquiry. Indeed, the figure of £2,500 per day, which you suggest is the remuneration of junior counsel, is also significantly over-stated.
