Letter: Damp nuisance

Thank you for publishing a splendid photograph of the Usher Hall on the front page of the Conferences supplement (18 May). Is it too much to hope that the council's property managers will also see this photograph and take action to rectify the blocked or defective hopper or rainwater pipe on the north-west side of the hall entrance which is clearly visible on the left edge of your photograph?

I was assured by box office staff last August that it was being attended to but there is no sign of the surrounding stonework drying out.

Huge sums of money have been spent on the Usher Hall recently. Surely a maintenance plan was a condition of the grants given to Edinburgh City Council for the project?
