Letter: Budget Cuts

If the people of Scotland disdain the sado-monetarism of the coalition's Budget measures as much as Joyce McMillan insists they do (Opinion, 26 June), then the remedy lies in their own hands, for the future at any rate.

By opting for independence at the earliest opportunity, Scots can have the Scottish Labour administration they overwhelmingly voted for on 6 May.

Life in a posher version of North Korea will no doubt be ideological heaven for some purists like Ms McMillan, but whether this socialist utopia can actually sustain services and reasonable living standards for all is another matter entirely.
