Letter: Beware the Tiger?

Am I alone in experiencing a frisson of foreboding when I read (your report, 9 December) that not only is the developer of the Haymarket site in Edinburgh of Irish origin, but it conducts business under the banner "Tiger"?

That seems to ring a bell as to recent economic woes not far from our shores, but, hey, if our councillors are happy with the situation, why worry?

Your report on the Haymarket site comments on the supposed similarity between the earlier 17-storey scheme and the latest eight-storey proposal. However, in the artists' impressions, the most obvious similarity has nothing to do with the architecture. By an uncanny coincidence, exactly the same people are promenading outside the building, including a man in a red shirt, a lady in yellow trousers, and at least ten other identical pedestrians in identical poses. Now, what is the likelihood of that ever happening again.
