Letter: Avalon Peninsula far from remote

I AM an expatriate Scot living in Newfoundland, Canada. In a recent article on the Moray Firth (News, 21 November), the Avalon Peninsula was referred to as "remote".

It has in fact the greatest population density in Newfoundland and has the capital city of St John's, the oldest city in North America.
