Letter: A9 solutions

Alastair Dalton's article (22 November) on the A9 makes many valid points, especially the quote from Fraser Mackenzie that "it is often difficult to tell if you are on a dual carriageway or not".

In my view the main reason for this is that there are sections where the northbound and southbound carriageways are out of sight of each other. Drivers can be lulled into a false sense of security which may persist when they return to a single carriageway section.

Although there are "single carriageway" signs at some points, I believe that, as a temporary measure, these could be vastly improved at a relatively low cost.
