The joke’s on us

After my letter (18 April) about the Economist’s jokey Scotland map on the front cover and having read about the sullen reaction to the Shetland helicopter pilot’s shopping spree (21 April), I couldn’t sit still after reading your account of the tailor’s dummy which had been entered as a candidate for the council elections up in Aberdeen (21 April).

What a great pity this special breed of candidate was withdrawn by her agent. Is it too late now, I wonder, to submit details of a clown to even up the odds?

All I can conclude for sure is that the joke police are out to get us and that we have proven yet again that we are a truly dour race and deserve all the jibes that come our way.
