JFK death theory

Your review of some of
the recent books about President John F Kennedy’s death (22 November) listed only those that thought there was a conspiracy, a conclusion also reached by official inquiries.

Certainly there was an
attempt at assassination by Lee Harvey Oswald, but a recent
documentary shown on Channel 5 (JFK’s Secret Killer: The Evidence) produced convincing evidence that the fatal shot came accidentally from one of the
secret service agents who was supposed to be protecting the President.

This conclusion was reinforced by evidence that the service later concealed evidence, presumably to protect their
reputation.

This hypothesis is based on Bonar Menninger’s book
Mortal Error (1992), outlining the conclusions of ballistic
expert Howard Donahue.

One should always consider the cock-up theory of history.
