A healthy split

Now that it is proposed that all public bodies should have a

50-50 gender split and that this should be extended to private and third sector boards, perhaps we should look at the gender balance in medical schools where the majority of students are women. This is even more so in general practice where, although excellent doctors, women are less likely than men to work full time or out of hours. They are also more likely to retire early. Could this have anything to do with the present shortage of general practitioners which is reaching crisis point?
