Gaza crisis

In reply to Dr Eddie's response (Letters, 8 June) to my comments regarding his letter on the conditions in the Israeli-controlled entity of Gaza, I should make it clear that I did not mean to imply that the conditions suffered by Gazans due to the Israeli blockade and control of Gaza were similar to those experienced by the "people of Darfur, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Biafra", as Dr Eddie implies.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza may be bad, but it is not as bad as these other tragic examples cited by Dr Eddie, and if I gave the impression that I was saying they were, then my apologies go to the good doctor.

Bad yes, but not that bad.
