Friends in Malta

It is good to see that the link between Malta and the UK, and specifically Scotland, remains as strong as ever.

On 4 May their MPs left the Palace of the President, which has hosted Malta’s parliament since 1921.

They played the national anthem, then their armed services band broke into Rod Stewart’s I Am Sailing.

The MPs then processed down Republic Street, with a pipe band playing Scotland the Brave, to the new Maltese Parliament, designed by Renzi Piano, at the entrance to the capital, Valletta.
