Forced out

On 31 January, Lesley Riddoch wrote about a small business in the Borders facing closure (“Forest of rules that prevents people building a future”). This Sunday, that prediction will come to pass when the The Hub, Glentress, one of the engine houses of our local economy, closes its doors for the final time.

But this is not another victim of the recession, instead this is a thriving business being evicted by the faceless administrators of the Forestry Commission. What it has done is morally wrong and The Hub will be sorely missed.
