Focus on buses

I AM very proud that First Glasgow has achieved a 91 per cent passenger satisfaction rating in Passenger Focus’s National Bus Passenger Survey, a testament to the huge changes we have put in place in Glasgow recently.

Over the past year we have launched a new network, simpliCITY, which is performing well and providing customers with better and more frequent bus services; we’ve invested £24 million in 151 new vehicles and are delivering services that are more punctual and reliable.

Since the implementation of simpliCITY, 30 per cent of passengers said their service was better. First rejects the argument that Patrick Harvie MSP put forward on your pages (28 March), that these results make the case for re-regulation, particularly on grounds of value for money.

We have written to Mr Harvie to point out that our value for money ratings were in the top four across the UK and 10 per cent higher than the UK average.

Of course, we are working hard to further improve services. I’m very confident Passenger Focus will have an even better First Glasgow customer satisfaction story to share next year.
