Flying a kite

The RSPB claims it is “misguided and foolish” to consider the potential of food contamination from its red kite feeding station at Tollie as a possible source that killed red kites and buzzards.

Surely if poison was deliberately laid out in areas remote from the feeding station there must have been other bird casualties from scavengers such as crows and magpies.

If there have been deaths of crows etc in the same area and during the same period as the kite mortalities, then there is very little publicity about it.

Surely it is wiser to consider the chemicals identified from the post mortem examinations and from this identify products that contain them and how they could potentially get into the red kites’ food chain.

To ignore this and claim it could not happen at our sites is dangerous.
