Flower power

Once more Flower of Scotland has been validated as Scotland's national anthem, with our Commonwealth team voting it the anthem for 2010.

It is the organic choice of the people, and what better inspiration for our 2010 team than a story of triumph against overwhelming odds and taking heart from past glories as we face the challenges of the new?

And when Scotland hosts the games in 2014, might one of those past glories be a successful independence referendum and Scotland standing proud and independent on the world stage, just as our Commonwealth team does every four years? I hope so.
