Flood damage

It is always distressing to read reports and see pictures of flooding of the magnitude that has been experienced in the past two days.

However, it is only on rare occasions that rivers actually burst their banks; in most instances of flooding, the flow is such that it overtops the bank.

There is a significant difference between the two, as in the latter there has to be physical disruption of the banks, and that is likely to lead to catastrophic damage.
