Flight rethink

After another tragic helicopter accident, this time in Glasgow,
it is surely time that the Civil Aviation Authority issues new rules regarding flying over built-up areas.

There have been many serious accidents with helicopters working out of Aberdeen heliport, the busiest heliport in the world, and yet the pilots are left to decide their flight path in landing and taking off, often flying directly over Bucksburn/Dyce when the safer option (weather allowing) to follow the path of the Don is open to them.

It is perhaps an appropriate time for the CAA to conduct an in-depth risk assessment for helicopter movements and consider the safer options available before we have a similar tragedy in Aberdeen  ..
