Fatal flaws

MARGO MacDonald's proposed assisted suicide legislation must cause consternation and concern among many. This is especially true among those of us who are elderly.

In Oregon in the US, where physician-assisted suicide has been legal for 11years, there have been alarming developments.

In a number of cases, people over 65 are being refused treatment that is deemed "too expensive" for the elderly. They are being offered assisted suicide instead.

A greater violation of human rights than the right to life is impossible to imagine.

If we go down this road, we are going full speed towards the heart of darkness.
