Equal treatment

AT LAST the voice of reason has entered the red/grey squirrel debate. Angus Macmillan’s letter (23 February) seems to be based on hard fact and logical thinking. If the red squirrel was introduced at one time, why should their grey counterparts be penalised when they are not? If both species were introduced by us, they should be treated equally, instead of man always playing judge and jury.

The British population is made up of a wide genetic mix– Picts, Celts, Saxons, Norse, Romans etc. Should, therefore, most of us be culled to protect the indigenous population – if it still exists?
