Energy spin

Perhaps I could offer assistance to Derrick McClure (Letters, 5 January) in his difficulty with "the battery of facts and figures" given in Steuart Campbell's Platform article on renewable power sources.

Mr Campbell merely pointed out in his trademark clear and unambiguous way that the SNP administration's spin on renewables was a political one and not linked to facts.

He could have added that the SNP's dogma-driven antipathy to nuclear power was at the root of much of this spin. The present, weeks-long, almost windless cold snap should be food for thought for those anti-nuclear automatons in the SNP, as it needs little imagination to see the devastation this country would be facing without that source of power.
