Drawing a line

In the latest version of the positive case for the Union, Alexander McKay (Letters, 9 December) says the idea of a national boundary being drawn across a hitherto united island is “preposterous”.

Mr McKay must be aware that his beloved UK already has a land border with another country, in which the border was created by “drawing a line” across a hitherto united island? Is he suggesting the UK is preposterous?
