Dementia tools

Rather than reducing negative connotations and stigma around dementia or indeed inspiring people to seek advice and earlier diagnosis, the latest campaign (your report, 22 September)
will, I fear, have the exact opposite effect.

If, like me, you were less than “inspired” by the words “ultimate tragedy”, “you lose them before they die”, “lost childhood” and so on, can I recommend the book I’m Still Here by John Zeisel, PhD.

This offers ways to look beyond the disease and connect with the person who is still there. It gave me a fresh perspective on caring and relating to my relative and I believe enabled me to find ways to enrich both our lives with light and laughter.
