Decade division

Is it not sad that, over 65 years since the great Education Act of 1944, there still seem to be so many (Letters, 5 January) who cannot instinctively see that the first decade AD ran from the start of year 1 to the end of year 10? Surely this "debate" will not occur every ten years hence.
