Clearly stated

THE Rev Dr John Cameron offers a quite unique interpretation of the first chapter of St Paul’s epistle to the Romans (Letters, 17 March).

In fact the great apostle is totally unequivocal: “They know of God’s judgment which declares worthy of (spiritual) death anyone living in this way.”

Not much room for reinterpretation there. Dr Cameron should be congratulated however for avoiding in his argument the ubiquitous and grossly abused and overused boo word “homophobic”.

St Paul makes it quite clear that the spread of same-sex relations throughout the Empire is a consequence of spiritual decline and cultural degeneration. Unlike many modern clerics, St Paul is not afraid of the “s” word – sin.

Many of your correspondents indicate an urgent need to find a political party which will represent their views on this issue. Currently there is not a credible one. It is not a situation that can continue.
