Choice of gods

Richard Lucas (Letters, 13 April) has more in common with the atheists he so despises than he might think.

First, like every child born into the world, he was born an atheist, literally with an absence of belief in a god.

It is only a result of our home environment and our culture that belief in this, that or the other god is indoctrinated in us.

Second, Mr Lucas may believe passionately in his own god, but he remains an atheist in so far as belief in other gods are concerned.

I conclude, therefore, that I just happen to have gone one god further than him in my disbelief.
