Charged up

A recent letter from my Scottish bank informs me that the charge for an overdraft of between £2,000 and £2,999, will be £2 a day.

So if I borrow £2,500 for a year, I will be charged £730, a flat rate of 29.2 per cent. But if I borrowed £2,000 that rate would be 36.5 per cent. When we bailed the banks out, there was surely a moral and social contract made, and yet this is how they show their gratitude. Surely it is time to nationalise these rapacious rascals, and put an end to their exploitation for good.
