Case to answer
Now that Home Secretary Theresa May has ordered another inquiry into the disgraceful Stephen Lawrence scandal (your report, 7 March), is it not a good time to have another inquiry into the Jean Charles De Menezes case?
At the time all sorts of stories and misinformation were leaked to the press by the police, and witnesses to the shooting contradicted almost every police statement.
The statement issued by his family’s supporters and lawyers five years ago is heartrending and the death of this young man has been ignored by our politicians for too long.
