Cartoon question

After a gap of some years I subscribed to The Scotsman once again. One of my early observations was the deep hostility of your regular cartoonist towards Alex Salmond.

In his contributions, the hideous stunted dwarf figure with the black pits for eyes is a repository of all the human failings from grandiose self-
delusion to greed and duplicity.

Monday’s post-Wimbledon presentation is rather more
puzzling.

Is it depicting the relief of a nation that Andy Murray lost, lest Salmond had indulged in an orgy of rejoicing?

Whatever its intention, it continued the tone of hostility that has become his now-
familiar theme.

For a long time I have been somewhat mystified at the Iain Green cartoons printed every day in The Scotsman. I wonder if I am the only person who finds them difficult to work out and very unfunny.

Are they, in fact, meant to be funny or are they simply ugly drawings of ugly people? Any comments from other readers? By the way, I do have a good sense of humour so if I am not seeing the humour in these I apologise!

No offence, Mr Green!
