Car safety Of course D J Hollingdale (Letters, 18 November) is quite right, that smoking is at least as dangerous as phoning while driving.

But whatever makes him think that his smoking-while-driving ban would be any more effective than the generally ignored and discredited phoning-while-driving ban already is?
