Bigger picture

I read with interest Veronica Wikman’s letter (4 September) concerning Professor Norman Bonney’s paper Proportional Prayers: Time for Reflection in the Scottish Parliament.

While I broadly agree with Ms Wikman, I would support our politicians devoting small amounts of time to a philosophical consideration of the bigger picture of things, but I was shocked by Professor Bonney’s well-researched statistics on the grossly unrepresentative extent to which these meditations are led by religious people, and mainly Christians at that.

“Time for reflection” should mean much more than “time for religious reflection”.
