The Best trap

The very talented SNP MP, Mhairi Black, has a problem shared with the late and very talented footballer, Northern Islander, George Best.

Both represent(ed) tiny countries which are/were never going to provide the opportunity to perform masterly acts on a planetary wide stage.

George Best was a world-class player, but sadly one who, due to an accident of place of birth, stood no chance of playing in a World Cup final.

One can imagine the frustration he must have endured. He died early and a very sad man.

In a similar way, Ms Black has the option of becoming a big fish in a big pond only if Scotland never gains independence. What a choice!

That fact leaves the young lady suspended between the horns of a dilemma: “Should I sacrifice my potential and remain true to the only raison d’etre of the SNP, independence? Or should I abandon all that in furtherance of a brilliant career within the UK?”

Her solution will be nothing if not interesting!
