Bars on rights

Once again we see prisoners demanding their “human rights” with some taking to the Supreme Court the issue of not being allowed to vote in the independence referendum (your report, 23 July).

It is ridiculous that this should even be considered. Prisoners lose the privileges enjoyed by law-abiding citizens when they commit crime and should accept that as a consequence for their choices.

It almost goes without saying the meddling European Union is behind this, the European Court of Human Rights saying a blanket ban on prisoners voting is “disproportionate”.
